Research has shown creating a comfortable space is conducive to learning. In my classroom, I want to create a space where students feel welcome and want to stay and learn. Having a large carpet on the floor for gathering together will help me choose the environment I am looking to create. We will use the carpeted area to read books together. The students can congregate here as well to work with partners, read and play games. In addition to the carpet, I will add pillows and lamps to make the classroom into a "home-like" environment.
