The Global Read Aloud (GRA) Project allows students to connect globally, through shared readings. In 2019, 375 of our students read the GRA books, then created postcards and mailed them to 50 other participating schools. Each time a new postcard arrived, we placed it on our world map. New wonders were created with each one! Once we moved to remote learning, the foundational connections of the Global Read Aloud project helped our students stay connected to each other, and the world. We took virtual field trips to some of our pen-pal countries via Google Earth- and compared what school was like during the pandemic. Helping my students see beyond themselves is a win for us all!
