There are not enough books in the classroom that speak to the diversity of our students' lives. The addition of these texts will allow students to choose stories that are well-written and reflect the cultural heritage, ethnicity, and language that reflect their own background. Students will be able to find characters that share the diversity that is so often missing in what has traditionally been offered in a public school library. We want our students to read with passion and enthusiasm. When a student can interact with a text that draws them in and engages them, it can turn a reluctant reader into one who reads with desire and skill.

About my class
