I am a Business teacher in the CTE(Career and Technical Education) department of my high school. Due to Covid 19, my students now have to work from home for now and while teachers and staff are in school for now, we will be returning to a work at home scenario if there is an uptick in cases. The key focus of my classes is to help students achieve technology based certifications, primarily Google Suite and Cloud Engineering. My district has provided students with Chromebooks or iPads of which I have neither in my room or home. I want to be able to provide differentiated instruction in my classes, no matter what device is being used. My goal is to have all my students certified in Google Suite by the end of the calendar year and then work towards the Google Cloud and Analytics certifications the following spring. I feel these certifications will give my students an edge in the job market as well as flexibility in pursuing higher education. The items I have selected will go to good use in either my classroom or home "office". Furthermore, many of my Juniors and Seniors work at least one job to help support their families. Younger students are the anchor parent at home with younger siblings. Getting to a virtual class can be challenging for them however, my videotaped lessons can be viewed at any time, on any device. I can see myself moving toward a more blended learning model with my students to assist in their completion of high school and beyond. Thank you for taking the time to read my message.
