Every student needs access to standard classroom materials to create an archive of learning. Starting with a blank page, students will have a chance to express their understanding and look back at their work. I'll demonstrate a reading or writing strategy to students and they will use these supplies to demonstrate their understanding. I can use this written record to learn about their learning and adjust my instruction accordingly. In my classroom, I learn with my students so I can help them become effective readers and writers in the twenty-first century.
