A classroom environment that respects and celebrates every individual can always be made stronger. This school year, I had the goal of extending this inclusive environment to a classroom library where students of every background, home life, and ability are represented. However, with the uncertainty of how classroom materials will be shared, I turned my focus to a set of read aloud stories and posters that will achieve the same goal. Some of the best classroom conversations in the past have revolved around a story that our class read aloud together. These stories enable students to identify with characters who look like themselves, who share similar experiences, and who overcome modern challenges that all people face in everyday life. They also allow students to recognize and empathize with others who are different from themselves. By donating to this project, you are helping my students navigate and explore an ever-changing, highly diversified world!
