Currently, my former students tend to get "stuck" in one specific reading genre or they may not have many books at home to read. The students need an exciting new adventure to make reading at home a priority. I am requesting A to Z Mystery books, spy pens, and journals to create excitement for our Mystery Unit. I would like to create a mystery reading kit that contains new and exciting mystery books, spy pens, and a journal for the children to kick off the new mystery reading unit. Each "home book bag" would feature an A to Z Mystery book. The giveaway book would be the A to Z Mystery Book: Absent Author that will be read in class or the virtual classroom for the children to follow along. The children would each receive a spy pen and a journal to "stop and jot" their ideas and thoughts about the mystery book. With these materials, the students will be able to participate in a mystery book study, read a new genre, and develop reading confidence.
