I want my students to have access to updated literature in the classroom. We are fortunate to go to the library once a week; however, they are only allowed to have one book at a time. With picture books, they read them that night and are left without a new book to read for a week. At this age, it is extremely important for students to experience literature for enjoyment. This is the first year for many students to be in school. Having daily read-aloud time, that fits into that day's curriculum is essential as it gets them excited to learn how to read. This time allows for so much learning growth, as I am able to model how to read from left to right, with enthusiasm, and so much more.
