Math is a subject many students dislike because they think it's "hard" or "complicated."Providing each student with the adequate materials makes math lessons more engaging and fun.Graph ruled notebooks help students keep their notes organized and they come in handy when we have to learn about perimeter and area, since we can easily draw many shapes using the little boxes. Fractions are a big thing in 5th grade and students need visual representations of what they are so they can better understand how fractions work. Include math challenges in your class and all of a sudden you have all eyes and ears on you. My students love using their own dry erase whiteboards to practice new skills.
