COVID-19 is making the school experience a very different one for children this fall. One of the many changes that our school is implementing to help keep kids safe and healthy is turning off all water fountains. In order to make sure kids are successful throughout the day I am working to provide children with water bottles so they still have access to water. The need for water bottles is yet another expense that parents are going to have to incur this school year. For my school 80% of children are on free and reduced lunch meaning that their parents may not be able to provide extra supplies on a regular basis. By having water bottles available at school we will be able to ensure that every child is able to get a drink during the day. While we would love to use reusable water bottles this puts another burden on families having to wash them every night and return them. All of the single use bottles will be recycled and possibly used for other projects.
