In light of the Black Lives Matter marches taking place across the nation, I am seeking to provide my students with readalouds and critical discussions surrounding what it means to be anti-racist and how to be an advocate for the equal treatment of all people. As a first year teacher, I have sourced most of my classroom library from yard sales and thrift stores. While many of the books in my (slightly outdated) collection are classics, the characters are overwhelmingly homogenous. There are so many new books being published showing diverse protagonists that would more accurately represent my student population and their needs, and I hope you can help me do this.
