Welcoming a fresh start in school! My students and I practiced social distancing for the last two years. This school year promises to be very hopeful and exciting. The students in my third grade class haven't had the chance to sit on a rug in a classroom since kindergarten. Third graders often have a difficult time staying in one place for extended time periods and COVID required us to do exactly that. This rug will allow us to move around the classroom. Having the freedom to sit with peers on the rug , instead of sitting in desks in a traditional classroom, will allow us to work together as a classroom community. Learning in an unrestricted setting will be motivating to my students, and as a result, they will be more likely to work to their full potential.
