Transitioning to distance learning has been a challenge for teachers, students, and parents. One of the challenges I have personally faced when I had to start teaching remotely was technology. Currently, I have an older computer that works very slow and has difficulty with many online programs, especially Zoom. Many times while on Zoom meetings with my students, my audio began to lag and I was unable to use some of the tools and features. Therefore, my students did not benefit from valuable instructional time. Being able to get a reliable, faster, and more efficient computer at home will make my teaching and instruction more effective, and as a result, my students will reap the benefits. I teach very difficult and important STEM subjects: Middle School Math, Algebra, and Business Technology. Being that they are STEM subjects, it is imperative that I have the right technology tools during distance learning to teach my students the concepts explicitly, research digital resources and programs to supplement their learning, and communicate with both my students and parents. Some of my students struggle with their learning due to the wide range of learning styles and/or English proficiency levels. In order to effectively meet their individual learning needs, provide differentiated and individualized instruction in small groups and/or whole group, and communicate with students and parents remotely, it is important that I have access to reliable technology in order to meet their needs with ease. Please help me with funding my project so I can have a better, faster, and more reliable computer during this pandemic (distance learning).
