Many of our students are below reading and writing levels by the time they get into the higher grades lacking interest in reading and writing. Like I said before, many of our students are English language learners. By giving them books they are able to understand in their language and having books in our classroom that I can share with their parent(s)/ guardian(s) will help them grow interest in books and learning! I also grew up in a low-socioeconomic household with little to no reading because my parents only spoke Spanish. I understand these children and want to help them have a love for literacy, but without as much struggle in between. By being able to bring diverse and Spanish books in our classroom that will be a step towards the right direction. Help me give my students diverse books not just for Hispanic students, but for ALL the students. The books I have chosen are books that speak about compassion, kindness, and being unique in your own skin. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your help!
