As schools across the country struggle to decide whether to open 100%, teach using a hybrid model or instruct virtually due to the COVID-19 virus, I find myself trying to reinvent my speech therapy approach using an online distance learning approach. My students receive mandated speech therapy targeting various speech/language goals. I have requested a Big Book Storytelling Activity Kit to use with my students (either in person or virtually). These oversized books, with cute storytelling props, can be used to address a variety of language goals. My kiddos will learn the different story elements, be able to identify the beginning, middle, and end of a story and learn to use transition words ( e.g. first…, then…, and finally…) to represent, organize and retell a story.
