As students are currently learning from home, it is difficult to connect and learn in many ways. Students seek opportunity to talk and interact with their peers. Reading a novel, discussing it's significance, and how it reflects real world events, topics, and issues brings a novel to life! With Covid, and learning from home, such opportunity is difficult. However, I plan to make learning as fun as possible through the computer screen. My class and I will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird, (with your help!) and for each one to have a copy to hold, reference, and use in seminars, will make the learning much more of an experience. My students are already eager to read this novel, analyze, engage with the text, and extend their learning. I plan to bring the novel to life beyond discussion. We will create reenactment videos of important scenes, use this novel to learn the state standards, learn about our past and present, and create a fantastic classroom environment of culture and relationships.
