By receiving the funds to obtain these items, my students would be able to build upon their knowledge in reading. First grade is critical year in building the foundation of reading that will support every other aspect of education. The Touch & Read Phonics Word Match, both Fill-In-The-Blank Phonics Stamps, five Washable Colored Ink Pads, Power Pen! Reading Skills Quiz Cards, four Power Pen!, Reading Skills Folder Game Libraries, and Blends & Digraphs Teaching Tubs will support my students in center rotations. These activities will provide engaging opportunities for my students to reinforce learned phonics skills and obtain mastery. Reading and writing go hand and hand when it comes to building a student’s learning foundation. The Classroom Floor Puzzles will allow my students create a connection between weekly themes and writing. This is important because it will also provide an opportunity to implement phonics skills they have learned in their writing. Each of these items will impact my students’ growth in building their reading foundation as well as future academic learning. These activities will have a direct and meaningful impact on my students and their needs despite the challenges of COVID-19.
