I work in an inner-city, Title One school with pre-k students who are just starting out. Title One means that more than 80% of students qualify for free lunches and are considered, "low-income".
With our district just starting to enhance and create a pre-kindergarten program, the district is short on laptops and can't provide them for that age group; this is a huge problem when we are instructed to learn remotely!
With pre-k students, they are just learning social ins and outs of appropriate behavior. They need to socialize with me and hear from their peers and learn from them by listening and growing together!
By getting these kindles to my kids and their families to borrow; they will be able to join zoom sessions with me every day! We will be able to work on social cues, behaviors, letter-sound associations, colors, and all the other important things that we take for granted of us just "knowing".
These little ones are just starting out, and sending home packets of work will not help them grow. Please help them bloom into students who love to learn!
