Children's books are a child friendly way to center conversations around race, racism, and resistance. If students are old enough to experience racism, then we must have conversations that help them navigate these experiences and respond with resistance. These books will make my students feel seen and understood and help guide them toward empathy, social justice, and equality. It is imperative that my students develop a healthy racial identity. These books can guide my students towards recognizing and resisting racial inequality. They will make an indescribable difference not only in my students classroom learning, but in their future. The books in this project are from the theconsciouskid.org's list of recommended children's books to support conversations on race, racism, and resistance.
