Due to COVID-19, my school's Sensory Room has had to be closed. My students still need to be able to take a brain break to calm themselves down. Having their own sensory box of items to individually use will help keep new safety guidelines in place while accommodating the student's emotional needs. We all have our own ways to deal with stress, having their own sensory box will help my students deal with theirs. In times of onsets of stress, the teacher and/or paraprofessional will recognize the student may need a brain break, with your help they can use their own sensory box to work through their stress to calm down before returning back to the lesson.
