There are not many books in the school for my students to hold and read, and there are even fewer class sets - none of which are current or high interest. There are also no books in the classroom. High school students do much better in class when they have a physical copy of a book, and this year I hope to help my students read and do work that is not always from a screen. If this project is funded, I hope to give my students books that they can take home and use as their own, which will hopefully help my goal of encouraging young readers.
