My students are a very diverse group of students who are in my class due to poor performance in past ELA classes and on the state standardized tests. My class is a two hour ELA class in an inner city middle school. They are not special education students, just students who require more time and practice to be successful. Many of my students come from impoverished backgrounds so their parents can barely afford the basic school supplies required of them. I want to reward them for all their hard work and dedication to improvement.
