These supplies will help give students the resources they need to be successful in learning both from home and once we return to in-person teaching. In the previous year there were times that it was difficult for students to learn and keep up with class work due to not having pencils, erasers, paper or folders. These supplies will be packaged up and delivered to their homes in order to foster an appropriate learning environment from their homes as we start our phase 1 of virtual learning. The snacks which are part of this project will be used both as reinforcement for keeping up with class work and to be sent home with students who do not have a lot of resources at home. My class had a really successful reinforcement schedule last year where on Friday’s if students had a good week (based on individually what their capabilities were), they’d receive a treat on Fridays. This became something the students really enjoyed and looked forward to but it was a lot of money that I was spending in order to buy the Friday snacks. Winter is coming and that is always a difficult time for the students at our school/in my class. In previous years, having appropriate outdoor clothing has been a struggle for many of these students. It would be wonderful to be able to provide the students with socks, mittens, and hats to be worn in the winter weather to keep them safe, healthy and warm. I believe that these supplies would make a huge difference for my students throughout this coming school year.
