My 5th grade colleagues and I are breaking down the subjects so that we each only teach 2 subjects to the whole 5th grade. Our students would rotate classes and get used to having multiple teachers. I will be teaching reading and spelling. Two things that I absolutely love. Spelling and reading go hand and hand in literacy. With that said, I will be using these novels to teach all of the following to the students throughout the academic school year: -Main Idea -Author's Purpose -Theme -Figurative Language -Voice -Cause and Effect -Character -Compare and Contrast -Drawing Conclusions -Setting -Classify and Categorize -Fact and Opinion -Point of View -Sequence -Analyze Relationships -Textual Analysis -Predict Events -Identify Conflict -Character and Relationship Changes -Setting -Effect of Character Decisions -Analyze Plot Conflict Please help make this possible for our 5th grade students. These texts will help students to master the 5th grade NM State standards and be well rounded readers ready to take on 6th grade! Thank you for taking the time to consider this project.
