Creating a safe environment for my students is my number one priority. My classroom is a place of safety and security and because of that, I can challenge my students academically. Critical thinking is impossible without first establishing an environment where students feel safe and supported. The table dividers provide opportunities for my students to feel connected to their classmates as they can safely collaborate during small groups. It will also allow me to safely conduct one-on-one instruction for my students during small group activities. These will help my students meet the basic foundations of feeling safe in my classroom. Once their basic needs are met, the possibilities for my pre-kinders are endless!
