As a first year teacher going through my classroom and preparing for the upcoming school year, I found that the teacher before me had left none of the grade-level headphones for my 5th graders to use. Once I realized this I started thinking about how this would affect their use of technology in their different learning processes. I quickly realized that a lot of the different programs that we use within 5th grade would no longer be an option. Since these programs require the use of sound in a class of 25 students I came to the conclusion that it would be too chaotic and distracting to have them using the programs through their Chromebook speakers. Therefore, I decided to think about my options for getting headphones for my students to use and allow them to be able to grow their technological literacy through our programs within the classroom.
