This year, I want to focus on creating an organized and cheerful classroom environment so that my students can feel safe enough to leave behind their stressors and truly be at school to learn and feel loved! After the last school year we had that was so affected by Covid-19, I would love nothing more than to provide my students with an inviting, comfortable, and engaging space to learn.
I am excited to make the transition from 3rd grade to 1st grade and need help collecting essential read aloud books for my future first graders! This year, it will be so important to foster strong relationships in my classroom and one way to do that is through read aloud time! Within this project, you'll see many picture books that I plan to read a loud to my students. Some teach a lesson on self-esteem, perseverance, kindness, and more. Others are for their pure enjoyment of reading.
This project will help me build a strong foundation for a classroom library where students can gather and feel at home in. First grade is a fundamental time in their reading development. It's critical that students are exposed to a variety of texts and rich vocabulary. Especially when most, if not all, of my students will be English language learners. I can't wait to see the excitement on students' faces as we read each book for the first time!
