After months of being away from school, in just a few short weeks students will return to my classroom. I eagerly anticipate their arrival and am striving to ready my classroom for their arrival. My school is planning to be hybrid and I intend to make the most of my two days per week with my students. My hope is to create a space where students can learn about and express their emotions. Many of my incoming students have experienced firsthand the impact of COVID as our community of Detroit was hit hard. This project was created to fund books for my classroom that focus on social-emotional awareness, communication, and coping skills. I plan to use these books in my class to create a safe space for them to practice these ideas.
