I want to build a reading nook in my classroom that offers a variety of books that affirm my students’ identities and empower them in who they are. I want books that celebrates and validates their identities, backgrounds, cultures and experiences. I want my students to read books that they will be excited about and interested in. I want my students to feel happy, excited, and enthusiastic about reading. I want them to be able to see themselves represented in the books that they read.
