My students have been uprooted from their routines and classroom community, and I feel it is important for them to have access to engaging SEL literature. These books will be used during the designated time block our school site is giving teachers to provide social and emotional support through a distance learning platform. As I get to know my students virtually this year, I will thoughtfully choose and create weekly lessons around the themes (inclusion, perseverance, positivity, acceptance, and empathy) offered in these books. These lessons will not only help provide direct social and emotional support, but will also help promote a sense of warmth and community in an online setting.

About my class
