For this project I wanted to make sure that my students had the opportunity to explore their love of reading. Reading is a huge part of third grade and many students lose interest in reading around this time. My students love reading and I don't want to dim their light by not having books available. Last year we did not have a classroom library and many of the students wanted books to read that they just did not have access to. I want to make sure that there are books available to every student that wants the chance to explore through reading. Students should see representation of themselves in every book. Not only did I want to provide books for students, I wanted to make sure they had books that they could relate to. Books that had strong main diverse characters in them. By providing multicultural books I hope it will help my students gain confidence within themselves and achieve anything they set their minds to.
