An Apple iPad will give my special education students in grade PreK through 8th access to the latest technology to enhance their learning. Nearly 50% of the students at my school are on free and reduced lunch. The iPad will be used for two primary reasons. First, it will be used to access quality applications that teach students about math and literacy. A few examples include using Epic books, interacting on Nearpod, and fluency lessons. The second use for the iPad will be to give students the abilities able to draw on lessons, highlight. The iPad also provides my students with the ability to use assistive technology to better access the curriculum. For example, older students will be able to use Dictation software to dictate an essay without being hindered by poor writing skills, as well as using and interacting with audio books. For younger students the iPad allows them to interact with drawing as well as apps. Additionally, students will be able to use the iPad to highlight harder text and have it read aloud. The possibilities are endless for my special education students with access to this kind of technology.
