As we begin a year like no other, my hopes for this project are two-fold. We know that kids learn best through play. I want to enhance the manipulatives and toys available that can be easily sanitized, as we are limiting access to materials that cannot be. My current materials are limited and dated. Second, I want the items in my classroom library to be more reflective of my students and their backgrounds. I hope to build my library to do that in a culturally sensitive and appropriate way. The books selected have been chosen carefully to be respectful of the cultures they represent, while accurately reflecting those they represent.
