I am a firm believer hands on experiences make for the best kind of learning. My students have a whole chapter in their science series where they learn about life cycles. One of those life cycles focuses on baby chicks. If my classroom would be awarded an egg incubator my students could see first hand the life cycles of baby chicks, instead of just reading about them! Not only would this benefit the students by helping them understand life cycles, but will also help teach them about responsibilities. My students come from very diverse backgrounds, many coming from low socioeconomic households. My students may never get to experience anything like this in their lives. Some may never even see real baby chicks throughout their lifetime. Therefore, this project will help them understand life cycles as well as giving them a once in a lifetime, real life experience.
