We will use these colored index cards to categorize and learn about morphemes (word parts). Having a working knowledge of common morphemes, including prefixes, suffixes, Latin and Greek roots boosts students' vocabulary learning and ability to decode unfamiliar words. The cards will be color-coded (yellow for Anglo Saxon words, purple for Latin roots, green for Greek roots, blue for suffixes and pink for prefixes) which will aide in students' learning and excitement. Students can also use their cards as "vocabulary manipulatives"-- combining cards to "experiment" with morphology. This will also give students something tangible to use as vocabulary instruction, even during remote learning. We all need a break from the screen and these cards will help students "grasp" these concepts!
