Flexible seating choices break away from traditional desks and chairs to give students options on where they choose to work. These choices in my room will include standing desks, lap desks on the floor, a couch, bean bags, and tables with stools. Giving students the option to choose their work space can help with their productivity, creativity, and behavior. Flexible seating has been shown to benefit students with attention and sensory processing disorders. Students will feel a sense of autonomy over their work environment because they get to choose which seating option works best for them. Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable! I am working hard to create a classroom environment that feels like home, where students feel comfortable and aren't afraid to ask questions or make mistakes because that's where the best learning happens.
