Why not make every lesson engaging and fun? Math manipulatives, base ten blocks, connecting cubes, measuring cups and counters provide students with a tactile math experience. I want to provide my students with a positive experience with fractions and multiplication this year. The math games I have chosen were carefully picked out for math centers where my students can practice their skills in a fun way without pressure. One way for children to gain experience and learn is through teacher read-alouds. Books such as "Separate is Never Equal" and "Something Happened in Our Town" represent the inequality in our country today. The books "I Want a Dog" and "I Want a Cat" will be used during our writing unit as interactive examples of opinion essays. Books such as "I'm Trying to Love Math" give students struggling with math a way to connect and feel better about their situation.
