The world is quickly changing, including the world of children's literature! There are so many new and important picture books being published to support our early learners to develop key skills such as empathy, compassion, and connection to the world around them. These books in particular can help to connect and cope with current issues such as social anxiety, acceptance, inclusion, and even learning about staying healthy from germs! Daily read alouds also build early literacy skills such as speaking and listening skills, introduction of new vocabulary, connecting text and characters to personal experience, compare and contrast, and many more. Exposure to these types of text at an early age can help to foster a supportive classroom environment full of kind, strong, and compassionate learners ready to take on the world!
