Students will have the opportunity to read culturally relevant fiction and nonfiction for this project. It is vital that texts being read in the classroom and at home reflect the students lives today so they can make a personal connection to deepen their learning. These texts provide relatable, academically rich fiction and nonfiction examples to enhance instruction in critical reading and critical thinking. Additionally, without these materials for students to access during school and at home, many students without the ability to purchase resources on their own will have limited access to these same texts.
