In my school district, parents and students have the choice to participate in school in two ways- online or in person. The Drumfit kits will help all my students, regardless of their method to receive an education. Drumfit is an activity that integrates both physical fitness and musical elements. Participants each have a station including a ball to use as the drum, a stand to balance the ball, and a set of drumsticks. Traditionally, participants follow a choreographed routine including different movements and drumming techniques set to upbeat music. The routine is intended to increase the heart rate, giving participants a cardiovascular endurance workout. The routine is also intended to help strengthen major muscle groups such as the arms and legs through repetitive movements. If given the privilege to have Drumfit kits available for use, I plan to accommodate the learning of students who are both online and in person. For students in person, they can each have their own station to perform the activity. This adheres to recommended guidelines involving minimal equipment and social distancing. The Drumfit kits will also benefit those who choose online learning. The kits can be used by myself to choreograph and demonstrate the routines while filming to share with my online students. I appreciate any consideration you have toward helping me engage my students in a new, exciting, and safe manner!
