The books I have chosen were picked for specific reasons. As a new teacher I want to build a library that engage students, expose them to different worlds, and develop a love for learning. Multicultural books and books about children with different needs is near and dear to my heart. Books regarding science will invoke learning. Books written in Spanish will allow children that may not read English to continue to develop reading skills such as fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Just because they come from different backgrounds or situations doesn't mean they don't deserve the chance to grow and learn.
