This project will help Head Start students learn how to grow healthy vegetables. The project will encourage members of our small community to share their knowledge of gardening with the children at Head Start. For instance, I have talked to a couple of older gentlemen about coming to the school to help the teachers and students prepare the raised beds, plant the seeds, and provide basic care for the vegetable plants. When the vegetables are ready to be picked, I hope that our students' families will pick what they would like to eat in their homes. The school and community garden project will greatly benefit all individuals involved. Families, students and community members will have a chance to work together and explore building relationships in all diversities.
