The first day of Kindergarten is a major life event. This is the moment children take their first real steps of becoming independent learners. It's a day of mixed emotions for many students and their parents. For the student-excitement, anxiety, fear, sadness, joy, uncertainty, confidence. For the parent- excitement, anxiety, fear, sadness, joy, uncertainty, confidence. Some shed tears, others literally bounced down the hall. (students, too ; ) I want to create a stimulating real classroom feel for my students' kindergarten year. The materials I've selected will enable me to create a REAL Background as we meet online instead of a Virtual background that is computer generated. This will help keep students focused and engaged. The technology is awesome, but it can't provide the same outcome as reality. Learning posters will serve as anchor charts for them to refer to during whole group and small group lessons. Bulletin boards and the whiteboard will mimic the physical setting by providing full scale teacher modeling. Fun themed decorative learning tools like the calendar and incentive charts will only encourage enthusiasm about learning! Finally, the best part is that all of these materials can easily be transferred to the physical classroom when we are able to return. This will maintain similarities to ease the transition from home to school.
