Being a teacher is the most rewarding gift! I love seeing children's smiles when they are learning and something they are interested in! I teach second grade at an elementary school in North Carolina. Our school is a Title I school with most of the population being Hispanic. This means that more than three‑quarters of students are from low‑income households. Students often don't have access to quality literature. These books and magazines will help students "see" themselves in literature and also connect to standards throughout second grade. These materials will also help students learn to love to read or even find a topic in which they are very interested. These books will give me an opportunity to express how much I value their traditions and heritage.
