My students are young adults with severe communication disabilities. They need a device to communicate their wants and needs. Non-disabled peers of use their phones to communicate The goal of this grant is to purchase phones which will be loaded with a communication program so they can communicate, using picture symbols to make their voices heard. Using a phone will eliminate the need to carry a large communication device which draws unneeded attention to their communication disability. Limited access phones will be loaded with the Cough Drop communication program. This program uses picture symbols for communication. It will allow students using this phone to communicate wants and needs.
