Last year was my first year teaching 3rd graders and I learned a lot! I came from an early childhood background where those students used manipulatives daily. I found that my third graders were struggling with many of the new math concepts throughout the year. In third grade, our math curriculum suggests little to no use of math manipulatives and I saw my students struggle using strictly paper and pencil methods. They still need hands on materials to help them master these new concepts! I plan to use these materials during small group lessons and math centers while students are in my classroom. I can also use them remotely through video demonstrations. Please help me get them the materials that they need to make learning these new concepts engaging and fun!
