While we are starting the school year virtually, I'd like to prepare for our much anticipated return back to campus! The materials that I am requesting for will help create a relaxing area in our classroom where my students can go to when they need a sensory break from our classroom routine. The additional items will further assist in transitioning back from break to the classroom schedule. Sensory breaks are very useful in the classroom when students become overwhelmed. The carpet and cushions will create a comfortable area while the shelf unit will hold sensory items that my students can utilize to meet their sensory needs. The rolling carts will be used to store additional items, such as books and writing materials, for myself and my assistants to help ease the transition back into the daily routine. I've seen just how beneficial it is to not only offer sensory breaks when a student really needs one, but to also offer a space that can comfortably meet their needs!
