With the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic still looming over their heads, I never want my to question the cleanliness and safety of my classroom. The Honeywell air purifier, cleaning supplies, printer, and ink will allow me to create a safe learning environment that will ease student germ anxieties. As a result, my students will be able to thrive as well as enjoy my lessons about healthy travel from sea to sea! Within my introductory travel lesson, each of my 120 students will list 3 things that concern them about traveling during the pandemic. After compiling the top 5 class concerns about travel, I plan to introduce a travel video that details current travel restrictions concerns. Within the video, Covid-19 is mentioned. My students will gain exposure to the World Health Organization's international travel criteria. They will then be divided up into social distancing groups to compare the items within the classroom that are suggested to be used to slow the spread of disease as recommended by the Center for Disease Control. The goal is for my students to make the connections to many of the items within my classroom (Air purifier, cleaning supplies, and printing capabilities of multiple documents that limits germ transfer). This "germ-free" project will continue to be discussed throughout each textbook chapter as we travel. An additional goal is for my students will be able to expand their thoughts to include other travel elements like vaccinations and food consumption as well.
