These books will help me to create a more diverse library for my students to choose from. I currently have books beyond the reading level of my students and these books will help me to provide better options for my first graders to build their confidence in reading. Building confidence in reading is one of the most important parts of my job, and it is crucial to student success to have books that are at their reading level. I also have selected a variety of titles that help support social-emotional learning and books that demonstrate differences in families. It is important to me as a teacher to have a library of books where every child in my class can find something they can relate to and something they are able to read confidently. This list of books will help my students to feel more comfortable in my classroom and more confident in reading. The books I have selected will help me teach my students to value their differences, accept others, and look for ways to help one another. This project will help me to make better connections with the variety of children I teach in our community.
