Each of my stellar students will receive their very own "School in a Box" lap desk/clipboard/dry erase board storage box with all the materials they will need to be ready for distance learning on the first day of school. When they open their personalized toolkits, they'll find dry erase markers with erasers, pencil sharpeners, guided reading strips, highlighters, dice and linking cubes to use at home during our daily lessons. There is room in the box to add a few of their own supplies, too. This custom toolkit will help my students start the year off being organized, which aligns with our school's commitment to AVID principles. Additionally, this one container will help to take the burden off my students' families of creating a separate workspace for their children. And since it's portable (with a handle!), my students can be flexible and easily move their materials and supplies as needed.
